La Spire

Returning to the festival!

One giant metal spiral. Three large, connected, hollow loops. Five acrobats fill a monumental structure with life and turn it into a separate world that tells the story of human power and survival.

Expression of human endurance in the field of gravitational force. The breathtaking composition of strength, the tension in the air, and the basic principle of being here and now. This is how the acrobatic performance “La Spire” can be briefly described. The main construction, a spiral of steel rope erected horizontally, forming three successive loops with seven-meter diameters, over a length of eighteen meters, for experienced acrobats becomes a tool to achieve what seems impossible: to get rid of gravity, weight, fear, and to move up, down, sideways. Every movement of acrobats takes on physical and emotional significance. The aerialists exhibit their ability to be there in this suspended space where every gesture, every breath, shapes the possibilities that follow. Along with the live sounds of saxophone music, the performance matures a contrasting synthesis of femininity, human strength, and vulnerability.

Chloé Moglia is a French artist that grew up amongst ceramic artists, nurtured by the interactions between earth, water, and fire. She trained in trapeze at École national des arts du cirque de Rosny-sous-Bois, then at the Le Centre national des arts du cirque before training in martial arts. She has collaborated with other artists and individually created several shows and performances: “Un certain endroit du ventre” (2001), “Temps Troubles” (2003), “I look up, I look down…” (2005), “Nimbus” (2007), “Opus Corpus” (2012), “Horizon” (2013), etc. Since 2009, the association “Rhizome” has supported the artistic work of Chloé Moglia. Winner of the “Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques” Prize for circus arts, C. Moglia, has integrated martial arts practice into her artistic development. This blend gives rise to shows and performances that link the spheres of thought and the senses.
