Inertie
In its fourth work, company “Underclouds” combines two art forms – installation and performance. Launched in June 2022, “Inertie” brought together circus performers and a sculptor to co-create, develop and breathe life into a giant mobile sculpture that continuously changes in public space. The sculpture – a forgotten “spinning top”, an empty volume, an unused circular trajectory – comes to life, launched by two rope acrobats. Under the influence of gravity, it begins to create a new narrative. The two performers, echoing each other, try to find a balance to hover between the ground and the sky, or sometimes, on the contrary, they deliberately unbalance the “spinning top”, looking for dynamics and quick turns. Acrobats walk along narrow edges, surprising us with their elegant, poetic and expertly controlled movements. The sculpture becomes a separate, third character in this performance. A distant relative of the spinning top and the two acrobats who control it – a new visual experience of the circus in the public space, which everyone will be able to interpret in their own way: playfully, geometrically, scientifically or dreamily.
