In Under the Sun, you’re invited to observe a small, one-square-meter world. Within it, a performer walks endlessly—tracing invisible paths, stepping and re-stepping, where each step forward feels like a return to the same place. The piece offers space to reflect on repetition, limitation, and the quiet possibility of change.
This work explores the idea that all of us live in our own separate worlds. The worlds we inherit, inhabit and (re)create. Drawing on Pierre Bourdieu’s concept of habitus which proposes that the environments we grow up in shape the way we perceive and construct reality. The internalized norms become part of our unquestioned “truths”—basic assumptions we rarely recognize, yet live by every day. Yet our realities are not fixed, they can change – in contact with others, through curiosity, and change of perspective.
