SARAU / Marie Gyselbrecht

Nest

Nominated as best national dance show & best outdoor show at the Barcelona critic awards.

The car is one of civilisation’s most powerful symbols, a symbol of freedom and wealth, an indicator of status. Nevertheless, it can sometimes become a substitute for a home, a temporary place to spend the night. The last refuge before the street. A moving nest. What if our privacy were forced to exist in the public space?

Three characters unravel a story in the twilight zone between humour and tragedy. A dance and street theatre show that investigates the limits and freedoms of the public space.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

After performing with choreographers and directors such as Alain Platel, Belgian-born performer and creator Marie Gyselbrecht graduated from the Salzburg Experimental Dance Academy (SEAD, 2005). She joined Peeping Tom in 2008 and since then she tours worldwide as part of 8 productions of the company. As a creator, she directed the installation Waiting Room – A Life in Transit, and the dance theatre piece TAVERNE for HOTEL Col·lectiu Escènic. In 2022, Marie premiered her first outdoor project, NEST, in Festival Sismògraf, Catalonia.
