Symphonic Flock

“Symphonic flock” is an outdoor show that invites the audience to graze with Moon Ribas (cyborg artist) and Quim Girón (acrobat) who are shepherds and performers of the piece. Each person in the audience wears a speaker around their neck as if it were electronic cowbells, so the sound of the show is in constant motion thanks to the movement of the spectators, who together with the performers form and deform choreographies for each scene. Joan Cot, musician and soul of the entire orchestra who forms the audience, manipulates the entire sound universe created only from different voices. Symphonic herd is a habitat, a community, an instrument, a ceremony… It is an invocation to the gregarious sense and the animal instinct within the human being. 

The collaboration between Moon Ribas and Quim Girón began in 2019 with the motivation to mix the performing arts with cybernetics, and the observation of natural phenomena and the animal world to inspire their creations. Duet’s works investigate ways of mixing alive elements on stage that are beyond the control of the performer’s body, giving space to the emergence of new languages within circus and dance. This common territory has led them to create different projects such as “Fenomen”, premiered at the Grec 2021 in Barcelona. Like the creation of the “Sense of Pregnancy” (2022), a new cyborg sense that allows Quim to be connected to his child’s embryo, of which they have made two performative interventions, one at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington and the another within the program ISEA 2022 International Symposium on Electronic Art, Mataró.
